Allergies & Atopy in Dogs

Allergies & Atopy in Dogs is my subject of thought and research for the day. With spring just around the corner and allergy season for us humans, i can't help but hope Charley's itchiness doesn't get worse with the warmer weather. Since we adopted Charley in November he's been itchy on and off. I just noticed a few patches where his fur is very prickly short on one front and one rear leg from him itching and biting. We are trying a food switch again to see if that calms his itching if not a trip to the vet may be in store. Food allergies are usually the main culprit of skin issues in dogs. Westie's are VERY prone to allergies and skin issues and thank god we haven't had much of an issue with Baylie so far. The article I linked to above while researching Westie allergies is a very good one with some good treatment options as well. Here is another link that has some more very useful information from the Westie Rescue of Michigan's Website.
